Students Inspired by Award-Winning Author Meg Rosoff!

On Tuesday 30th June, our Forces students enjoyed the exciting opportunity to meet award-winning author Meg Rosoff through our partnership with Reading Force.

Before the event, students had read 'Almost Nothing Happened', completed their Reading Force journals and prepared questions for Meg. During the session, she spoke about her journey as a writer, where her ideas come from and the importance of reading and creativity. Her engaging presentation inspired students and encouraged them to think about their own writing.

We were incredibly proud of how our students represented The Wavell School throughout the visit. They listened with great interest, asked thoughtful and perceptive questions, and continued their conversations with Meg while having their books signed. Reading Force were equally impressed with the students' enthusiasm, commenting:

We were thrilled by everything – from the relevance of Meg's lively presentation to the response of your pupils. They really seemed to be listening, as shown by the number of questions they asked and the comments they made while having their books signed.

The event concluded with the presentation of prizes for our accompanying writing competition. One particularly special moment came when Meg presented the winning prize to Aurora and said:

I look forward to having a book signed by you in future.

Those words perfectly captured the spirit of the day—encouraging young people to believe in their own potential and celebrate their creativity.

It was a memorable day that celebrated reading, creativity, and the confidence of our young writers, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Reading Force in the future.
