The Wavell School

Sports Day

Date - Friday 3rd July 2026

Venue - Military Stadium, Aldershot

  • Unfortunately, in order to maintain a secure venue for the entirety of the day, there will be no external spectators, friends/family permitted at the event, at any point.
  • All students will register at school, in their form base, at 8:30am. They will then meet at our fire assembly point outside before being walked to the stadium with their tutor group and accompanying staff.
  • All students are to wear their PE uniform, even if they are unable to compete due to injury.
  • A t shirt/polo shirt representing their House colour is also acceptable should they so wish. This must have sleeves and cover their stomach.
  • Face paints or fancy dress are not permitted.
  • All students will need a packed lunch – a separate email will be sent to those entitled to free school meals with further instructions.
  • There is access to tap water at the stadium but we ask that all students bring plenty of water with them on the day and a bottle to fill up if needed.
  • Please ensure your child brings sunscreen/a hat.
  • Students may bring money to spend at the ice cream vans that will be in attendance during the afternoon session, this service will be cash only.
  • Students will be dismissed from the stadium, at approximately 3pm, along with the majority of staff. They can either walk left into Aldershot, or be accompanied back to school if they wish to collect bikes/head into North Camp/be collected from usual collection points by parents.
  • Students who are collected by a taxi will be collected from THE STADIUM that day at 3pm and not back at school. The taxi companies have confirmed this with us.

Every student in Year 7-10 will be signing up for an event to compete in on the day. If your child is currently injured or needs to be excused on medical grounds, please email me at admin@wavell.hants.sch.uk with the Email Subject as ‘Sports Day Medical’ and the details so that we can speak to them here at school about their role on the day. They will still be welcome at Sports Day, in a spectating capacity and need to attend in PE kit.
